CREATING EUROPE Participative project in public space by Gabriele Obermaier Spontaneous, communicative, and with artistic strategies and aesthetic materials, the event CREATING EUROPE offers a dialogue with passers-by in public space on creative visions and new directions for the European Union.
Since 2011, in various exhibition formats, the artist has been replacing the heraldic yellow in the European flag with colours of social and political movements that aim for freedom without making use of neo-liberal ideologies.
At a market stand and in dialogue with the artist, the participants develop their own personal European circle of stars. There are form sheets available on which six different colours can be distributed among the twelve star-shaped white areas. In addition to this, participants have the opportunity to decorate T-shirts with their individually designed circle of stars.
CREATING EUROPE comes about through communication in public space and also culminates in this: The participants move through this space with their T-shirts and carry their statement out into society in order to promote further debate on goals for the future.
The following colours are available:
★ I want a women liberated Free Europe
★ I want a lesbian and gay friendly Free Europe
★ I want a communist Free Europe
★ I want a sustainable Free Europe
★ I want an anarchistic Free Europe
★ I want a(n) ___________ Free Europe
